Over 75% lower licence and infrastructure costs.
Noesis helped Pureit move off Adobe Commerce Cloud and onto Magento Open Source, reducing combined licence and infrastructure costs by over 75%. The work involved much more than moving a website between servers. Pureit’s storefront depended on custom modules, middleware, services and third-party integrations. Salesforce supported key business data and customer journeys. We began by configuring a coding agent around the site’s codebase and architecture, then used agent-led review and engineering to address security weaknesses, fix interface and user experience issues, and rebuild tightly coupled parts of the application.
Reduce the cost without losing the business logic.
Pureit wanted to remove the recurring cost of Adobe Commerce licensing while retaining the functions its customers and teams relied on. The existing setup included a PWA storefront, an Adobe Commerce backend, many custom Magento modules and middleware connections to Salesforce. The integration landscape covered product information, inventory, customer accounts, demo bookings and service journeys. Payment gateway dependencies also needed to be understood. A simple platform swap was risky: the team had to understand how each customer action moved through the application and into the systems behind it.
Choose the migration approach.
Noesis evaluated three routes before selecting a fresh Magento Open Source installation. This removed the Adobe Commerce licence requirement while keeping the migration focused on the site’s actual business needs.
- In-place downgrade: a proof of concept identified data-loss risks and Enterprise plugins without direct Open Source equivalents. We rejected this route.
- WooCommerce migration: the change in technology would require a broader rebuild and exceed the available budget.
- Fresh Magento Open Source installation: retain the Magento foundation, recreate the required site behaviour and connect to the existing middleware and Salesforce setup. This was the selected route.
Start with an agent that has project context.
Before using AI to change the application, we configured a coding agent specifically around Pureit’s codebase and architecture. A change to a form, account flow or product page could affect another service. The agent needed to work with the existing system’s relationships and constraints. The team used that context to help investigate code, identify issues and support changes across the migration. Here, “agent-first” describes the engineering workflow: agents work with knowledge of the application and support the people responsible for changing it. Magento Open Source remains the commerce platform.
Review, repair and reduce dependencies.
The migration provided an opportunity to address problems in the existing application. The team used agent-led review to identify and close security weaknesses, correct interface and user experience issues, and reconstruct parts of the code that were too tightly coupled. The purpose was to make the required application behaviour easier to maintain as the hosting and platform changed. Existing middleware and Salesforce connections remained central to the solution. The work focused on real customer journeys: finding products, managing an account, booking a demo and requesting support.
Validate the whole journey.
The project plan covered storefront checks, integration testing, cross-browser and device testing, performance testing and client acceptance testing. The acceptance process examined whether a website action produced the expected result in the connected system. A successful form message alone does not prove that a service request reached the correct customer account in Salesforce. The UAT record covered account mapping, demo booking, support forms, product availability, navigation and interface consistency. The delivery plan also included separate development, staging and production environments, production hardening, DNS cutover, post-launch monitoring and handover.
A lower-cost foundation for continued development.
The move removed the Adobe Commerce platform licence requirement and reduced combined licence and infrastructure costs by over 75%. The architecture work addressed tightly coupled code, while the agent-led review supported security and user experience fixes. For Pureit, this created a lower-cost base for its website. For the engineering team, it established an approach to working on the application with a coding agent configured for its specific context. The business value of AI can begin with the systems a brand already owns. Understanding those systems, removing unnecessary cost and making them easier to change is a practical part of that work.
